Remember when the Atlantic was the only basin in the world to get an early start to its season? Remember when that drove people nuts? Well, the Eastern Pacific decided to have a say in this with Tropical Depression One-E. The first in the season even though the Eastern Pacific’s season don’t start until May 15th, six days from where we are now.
Winds of 35 mph with an Air Pressure of 1006 millibars. Moving West-Northwest at 6 mph. Located at the coordinates of 9.3 Degrees North, 91.3 Degrees West. An early start to the 2017 Eastern Pacific Hurricane Season. And it looks like it’s getting its act together. Mostly because of the hot water in the Pacific. Hot water, of course, is one of the fuel for tropical cyclones.
Projected Path shows the system to strengthen even more, into a Tropical Storm. Possibly around tomorrow. Not just a Tropical Storm, but the NHC is now forecasting for the storm to become a hurricane by the end of the week. Category 1 at least. And could pose a problem for Southern Mexico to kick off the Eastern Pacific Hurricane Season. And if become a Tropical Storm, the first name for the list for 2017 is Adrian. Last time a storm has been named days before the start of the season was…I believe it was Aletta back in 2012. So possibly five years. So Mexico, if you’re in the path of the storm or soon to be in it once the next advisory comes in, I would start getting prepared for the upcoming worse. Here’s the list for the 2017 Pacific Hurricane Season.
Of course, Adrian will become the first once this depression becomes a storm. Beatriz is next on the list. Followed by Calvin, Dora, Eugene, Fernanda, Greg, Hilary, Irwin, Jova, Kenneth, Lidia, Max, Norma, Otis, Pilar, Ramon, Selma, Todd, Veronica, Wiley, Xina, York, and Zelda. These are the same list from the 2011 Season but of course, no names were retired in that list due to…I guess a quiet season for the basin. So it’s the same list from 2011. So tell me what you think? Will One-E become Adrian? Will this storm become a major threat to Mexico? Any chances of this storm strengthen even further, maybe at least Cat. 2 maybe? Tell me what you think in think in the comments below.
