Former South African President Nelson Mandela died at age 95, Current South President Jacob Zuma announced early Thursday. Sad Day for the World that Former South African President and Nobel Peace Prize Winner for Anti-Apartheid Movement has died in his home in Johannesburg, he was 95 years old. Mandela Inaugurated in 1994 Nelson Mandela became the first Black President of South Africa in 1994, changing the South African Constitution and ended Apartheid in the country. Apartheid is South Africa's Version of Segregation, but it's a Ruling Political Party from 1948-1994 that did not gave Black South Africans civil rights. Ended in 1994 when Mandela was elected. He was later transfered from Robben Island to Pollsmoor Prison in 1982 till he was released in 1988. After recovering from Tuberculosis, he was sent to Victor Verster Prison until 1990. Following the AIDS outbreak in the late 1990s to early 2000s, he worked with the Nelson Mandela Foundation to help combat HIV/AIDS, rural development, and new schools. He visited around the world, met with world leaders, and in 2007, he achieved the Nobel Peace Prize for his hard work and dedication following the Anti-Apartheid movement and inspiring words of choice.
