We have now our first named storm for the 2014 Pacific Hurricane Season. Tropical Storm Amanda had been named earlier today by the National Hurricane Center. Amanda is located just 651 miles SSW of Manzanillo, Mexico (about 1465 miles SW of Galveston, Texas) with winds over 40 mph as of the 2:00pm PDT Advisory. The Projected Path of Amanda will make the storm stronger by the time Memorial Day Weekend hits around and the storm will become a Category 1 storm, first Hurricane of the season, over the weekend. Land threat is no concern. If possible. Could be a Mapping Error on the path. Anyway, no threat to land. It will weaken by the time it'll churn northeast, hundreds of miles away from the Baja peninsula. But anyway, that's the only watch for the Tropics. And besides, the Atlantic Hurricane Season doesn't start till 1 week from this Weekend.
